A walk along the North coast of Antrim

Whilst it’s been making waves as the main location for all things Westeros in Game of Thrones Northern Ireland has some great natural jewels to show off to the world. One of these has to be the most amazing walk that is available in the whole of the UK. Along the North of the country is a spectacular spectacle known as the North Antrim Coast. This is where the North Atlantic meets the Irish Sea creating interesting weather and rugged seascapes.

To walk it properly you will need to have a decent set of Walking Maps to guide you around the coast and enable you to make the most of the sights. It’s one of the many things that you need to have along with a decent bag, over trousers and a jacket. You certainly need a water bottle and flask as well. What sights will you see?

The walk takes in the majesty golden beach of Portstewart Strand to begin with if we head in an Easterly direction. The next two points of interest are truly amazing. The first is the incredible Giants Causeway. It’s probably worth a stop over here if you can afford the hotels prices. Next is the breathtaking Carrick a rede rope bridge (as long as you visit in the spring and summer months). This is a real test of nerves as you go across the gap to the small outer island. From then on it is a series of picturesque villages and landscapes until you reach Carrickfergus Castle.
