Self-taught photographer Jude Palmer hit the headlines last year when she became an official Tour de France behind the scenes photographer. This year she has done it again, doing the same job for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The single mum-of-three is already snapping the northern region’s build-up to the event and calls it ‘beyond exciting’ to have been chosen to cover these two major events in the space of just over one year.
Determination pays off
She said the world-renowned cycling race gave her career a massive boost and so it seemed logical to try to land the same job for the World Cup. It is no surprise that Jude’s determination has paid off – it is the story of her life, as explained on The Yorkshire Post website at http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/yorkshire-living/health-family/a-life-in-pictures-jude-s-long-road-to-the-tour-1-6972825 and evidenced on the BBC website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0222zw9/p0222x0l.
There is no doubt that Jude will rise to her latest challenge. She is no wedding photographer, more accustomed to tweaking bouquets than to battling for position. Last year, she fought the scrums in Paris and now she’s ready for action again.
But, just as other snappers have learned what they need to do to get the best from brides and grooms, Jude says she understands ‘the game now’ and how you sometimes have to battle to get the shots. Experience is key to securing your dream job and Recruitment Agency Cheltenham Buzz recruit can help if your around their proximity, they don’t specialise I finding jobs for photographers but with access to numerous other roles could well be worth a call.
Ongoing action
Jude has already trekked up the Lake District’s Scafell Pike with former Lions and England Captain Bill Beaumont, who is also the chairman of the RFU and The Webb Ellis Cup was also taken on the trip.
Jude, of Harrogate, will be snapping some of the well-known teams as they train on practice pitches in Newcastle, Leeds and Darlington, although she won’t be capturing the English action at Twickenham on September 18. This is the national team’s first match of the tournament against Fiji.
Jude will be capturing the England team’s official send-off at London’s O2 arena, however, and she will be working all the way through the tournament, until it finishes in October. Jude will inevitably be out almost every day, and at all hours of the day, but is not fazed by the challenges ahead. “I love it,” she said, and you can’t help thinking that she really means it too! After all, who wouldn’t?
