Heart Disease – What is it and how can you Lower your Risks?

One of the biggest killers, not just in the UK, but all round the world is heart disease. Heart disease covers conditions that affect the muscles in the heart, the valves or the arteries – these problems cause a range of conditions that can kill, such as heart attacks and strokes.

There are ways to lower your risk of suffering from heart disease. Diet is one of the biggest changes that you can make to your lifestyle to limit your chances of having problems with your heart. There are certain foods that can cause much more risk to the heart – foods that contain saturated fats and have high sugar and salt content are bad for the heart.

Many people find that a vegan diet can help them to have a healthy heart. This is because it is naturally very low in the fats that cause heart problems, whilst being naturally high in a lot of good vitamins and minerals that the body needs to function healthily.

As well as diet, there are other lifestyle changes that can help you to keep your heart working well – plenty of exercise, cutting down alcohol intake and stopping smoking are all good things to change to help your heart.
